MAY CHALLENGE: I started thinking about what would be a pretty awesome challenge to end the month on a good note and figured a long row would do it. So this month I'm going to do a 25,000m row. My goal for this is to complete it within two and half hours. I think it's good time to beat but don't expect to beat it by a lot. I've thought about it and I'm going to pace it out like so:
1,000m
5,000m
5,000m
5,000m
4,000m
3,000m
2,000m
I've planned for 5 min breaks in between so I can keep a 2:00 min 500m pace for the duration of the 25,000m.
I do have a good view for this overlooking the Baltic Sea and have a great podcast lined up to keep my head focused on learning something new. I'm excited for the morning and I'm exciting to see the outcome. If you want to do it with me, please! Post your times in the comments below.
REFLECTION: I'M STOKED. This challenge went great and I did extremely better than I thought I was going to. I also crushed my expected time of two hours and 30 mins by over 30 mins. My final time was an hour and 58 mins! I stuck with my outlined plan of the distance intervals I listed in the post but I only rested for 2 mins in between each set, which cut down on a lot of time. I held a 2:02 500m pace for the 25,000m. Overall, I felt great. The Joe Rogan Experience helped a lot to keep my mind focused on what you eat. @joerogan featuring Donnie Vincent on how you get the food you eat and an intelligent conversation on hunting. It was a great listen for the 2 hours ( I think it was a three hour podcast) and kept my mind focused on the conversation and not the row. It was a great day outside too. It was around 70 degrees and sunny overlooking the Baltic Sea. I couldn't have asked for a better day. I hope you guys maybe tried it out and watched along the way on my story. Either way, I hope you enjoyed and we stay tuned for next month's challenge!
