MAY MONTH REFLECTION: This month held a collection of physical, educational, and mental tasks. We swam a total of 5 miles, we mapped our monthly budget to try and wrestle with our personal finance lives, we practiced yoga, and we planned a vacation. Plus we stressed our mind and body on the row machine to finish off the month. When you look back on it, we've accomplished a lot in 1/12 of a year. When we set these goals it can be difficult to assess and measure because maybe we've never done them before, or we're not posting it on the internet. My goal from this is not to post things for everyone to see. Sure it's great to post and inform your friends and family what we're doing, but it’s not the driving purpose. The purpose is YOU. I'm doing this for myself not anyone else to judge me or try to prove I'm better than anyone, I'm not. I'm doing this to better myself. To grow myself into a better man. That should be one of the fundamental rules for you as well. This month tested that goal. When I was completing my monthly budget, it was hard to calculate everything. I'm not an advocate of calculating every single cost to the penny, nor did I do it that week. What I was trying to grasp was what am I spending my money on, how much is going in and out each month, and how can I plan for the future and set myself up for success. I learned a lot about my diet and eating habits in the process haha. Additionally, this occurred with planning my vacation. I could put as much or as little work into it as I feel fit. Could I have worked a little harder some days, or put in another hour to really finite the details of the trip? Sure. Absolutely. To me however, I planned a trip and I'm going to go through with it. If I don't then shame on me. But that was the goal. I hate planning every single detail of a trip because it puts a schedule on your vacation, so why start now. And this is something that is completely up to you to decide and refine for yourself. What is your goal, how do you want to accomplish it, and when do you act? If you can make S.M.A.R.T. goals, you're going to set yourself up for success.
May was a great month. I was able to complete four awesome challenges, travel to Europe, spend time with some new friends, and appreciate what I have in this life.
