Create a morning routine. Lets say you're listening to a Tim Ferris podcast and you notice a trend. Not the trend of him being totally awesome, but the trend of the stories of people he interviews and dissects. For the most part, and of course this isn't always true, successful people (we can try and define success later) have a morning routine; a little something to get them going in the morning. A lot of this minute tasks are the same, a lot of them different. The point is something you can do each and every morning to better self and really start your day on the right foot. So… for week one, that’s our challenge, obviously. I am going to list mine, but that does not mean for any reason you have to list the same. And those are the rules for all 52 weeks. I'm really looking for simplicity here. Nothing special, nothing elaborate. I want to accomplish the goals, and see if something that takes a little amount of time can change my day, my week, my year, my life.
Just think if you were to do something completely out of your comfort zone, your culture, your normal life, how that can have an affect on you? How opening up the confined box, opening up your mind to new views, new ways of life can open up your outlook on life. Most importantly, just have fun and get after it. The best part. It's short, sweet, and you have no idea whats coming next!
-No snooze button
-Drink a Cup of Water
-Max set up push-ups
-Journal entry
-mini Crossword puzzle
-This week set a solid tone for 2018. When I woke up, I immediately took down at least half a Nalgene and knocked out some pushups to shock the body. I wrote my quick journal entry for the morning, as well as, looked over the previous days thoughts. I benefitted from the the journal entries by keeping my mind centered and focused. Everyday you have a lot of thoughts, ideas, tasks etc, going on in your head and to look back at your previous thoughts, accomplishments or failures can be extremely beneficial. I felt as though I was talking to myself and growing from each entry. It helped push me to accomplish my goals for the day because I didn't want to be self defeated during my evening look over. The snooze button… let me tell you. I failed on this one folks. I hit my snooze I think two mornings of the week. It was incredibly difficult waking up in the morning this week and certainly didn't help that I was going to bed at 2 am every night. But no excuses. Since I failed this specific goal, I plan to incorporate it into next week as well to go along with cold shower week. I am not upset that I failed on that specific item of my morning routine, because this way I know I didn't make it too easy. Remember that your failures aren't bad things, rather learning experiences. It is perfectly acceptable to fail so long as you take something from it. Failure should be apart of life and I will set myself up (hopefully not) for failure with my nemesis "the snooze button" next week. I hope this week went well for everyone, I would love to hear feed back on what everyone's morning routine was and how each item may have effected you, either negatively or positively. I want to learn from everyone to see if there might be a common theme between us all! Thanks everyone!!
