We're going to do another diet regime. This time instead of Vegetarian, we're going to do a ketogenic diet. Our goal is to get our bodies into Ketosis by the end of the week. I'm going to tell you right now, it's going to be almost impossible in that amount of time. For beginners, it usually takes around two weeks. But we're going to try anyways. It just means you're going to be extra careful with your carbs and be totally focused on what you're doing. We can do this together. If you don't know what a ketogenic diet involves, here is a link you can check out to find out more information. https://ketodash.com/keto-diet There are ample benefits of partaking in a keto diet. People do it to lose weight, to make your body run on fats instead of carbs, and to create more mitochondria in your body to have more endurance during long and high stress activities. Whatever your reason, I believe its worth a shot to try. I have done the diet before last year for around two weeks and I did lose weight. I didn't actually medically measure if my body entered ketosis, but I felt great and didn’t feel any type of energy loss, which most people do. Some actually incur a slight sickness after about a week and a half because of the lack of carbs. However, once your brain goes back to its natural state of using fats as its primary energy source, that sickness dissipates. So with our goal being only a week long, focus on what you're doing and lets ditch those carbs together. If, at the end of the week, you want to measure your body to see if it has entered ketosis, you can head to a Walgreens or an Apotheke and buy a simple blood test to find out. I think it will cost around $10. I know I am going to test to check myself and I encourage you to do the same. I know I told Carlynn I wasn't going to do another food challenge in the near future, but I folded and thought this would compliment this next week well, especially coming off the double training sessions. So… Let's see how it goes!

REFLECTION: I do not recommend Keto when living in a hotel with no kitchen. It makes it incredibly hard to prepare food and eat the things you want because you don't have the means to. I was truly thankful for the free morning breakfast, and even then I could only eat a third of what was offered. Most days I have would a chicken salad for lunch, though others I was satisfied with meat and cheese to hold me over until dinner, which consisted of Thai or Chinese where I would get beef and vegetables with ample vegetable and coconut oil. I had extreme desires to eat donuts for some reason. I do not normally eat donuts, nor do I usually crave them. I did miss normal sandwiches but that was something I could deal with. Overall I like the Ketogenic diet, however having your own kitchen is essential. I found myself sipping spoon full's of MCT oil to make sure I made it. I did not enter ketosis, I think without a kitchen and the pure lack of time, it wasn't going to happen. I did try and put in the effort and it was a good learning experience on how to eat and skip lunch. I think the next time I try this, I will have a solid Partner In Crime to do it with me with a well stocked kitchen. Then I feel I will have the full potential of benefits from the diet and follow it more strictly. How did yours go? Did you have similar experiences or hardships this week? What were your struggles? What were your positives?
