Let's Breath! This week we will try to breath through are nose 90% of the time. During our morning rituals, during our training, and throughout the day. This should come natural to us, but we have developed a sense of laziness by breathing through our mouths. Now there's a ton of reasons why breathing through your nose is much better for you. I'm no scientist and please feel free to do your own research, however, here's some quick tips. Breathing through your nose can slow your breathing and make your breaths more beneficial. You take in more oxygen and your nose naturally warms the air you're taking in making your body accept the air more easily. Additionally, when breathing out through your nose, it’s a smaller hole than your mouth. It takes more time for the carbon dioxide to leave your body which actually helps extrapolate oxygen on the way out as well. Further, ample benefits come from this type of breathing such as slower heart rate, preventing snoring and sleep apnea, helping to relax your diaphragm, and much more. So this week we will help our bodies by breathing. Those cardio runs, rows, skis, etc. will be tough, but doable. Try to focus on what you're doing forcing you to create the habit. Your body will thank you! Good luck. And please add any knowledge of why breathing through the nose helps the body in the comments!

How did everyone’s week go?! Tell me breathing through your nose isn’t hard while doing some cardio or riding a bike up a hill! You really have to focus on what you’re doing and why you’re doing it, that’s for sure. This week was a success and I noticed that I already naturally breath through my nose. However, when I train heavy cardio, I instinctively go to mouth breathing which is not a good thing. I certainly worked on it this week and had some guidance and help along the way, but I definitely had to stay on top of it. It feels good breathing the right way though, I will say. I felt better about myself and felt better about my oxygen intake. Some negatives that I saw to go along with that however, were increased snot levels. As gross as that sounds, I have to put that in here. I’m not too sure what causes it, but while doing cardio, say running or mountain biking, I would produce a lot more snot or a runny nose. If you could weigh in on why, i would greatly appreciate it! But I guess that comes with the territory? Or maybe it’s just me.
Where did you face your hardest obstacles? What did you find beneficial or negative with this challenge? I would love to hear your feedback! Congrats on a successful challenge, let’s keep crushing it!
