This week we are going to do some research into a specific charity. Choose a charity you already have passion for or find a new one you have similar interests with. You then will donate to that charity by the end of the week. So choose wisely, there are plenty out there. Your donation amount is up to you and you can keep the amount a secret if you'd like. The point is not the amount of money, but the act of kindness towards others and trying to help a cause that is trying to make a difference in the world. A way to give back to something or someone larger than yourself. You never know where a small donation could lead.
I have never donated to a charity before, nor do I even know how. That will certainly be a part of my research. Without any background knowledge, I plan to make a donation in the environment of a eco-friendly push where my funds can go towards something that involves helping the planet. Please share which charities you currently donate to or plan to donate to. It would be great to see all the support for these wonderful non-profits.
REFLECTION: Giving to a charity is not something I take lightly. There are a lot of fraudulent companies out there and I am very conservative on where I give my money, outside of investing. To me, this week was a chance to give to a company that has the ability and future to make an impactful difference on the planet. After a few days of research looking at well known charities in the environmental realm, I finally made a decision on where to give. I went with Conservation International. CI has a well established infrastructure, board members and a clear vision for the goals they are trying to reach. They have over 1000 employees and around 30,000 people in which they partner with. They cover six main areas on three continents and keep their focus on climate, food, forests, fresh water, global stability, livelihood, and oceans. All of which I find very interesting and crucial for the sustainability of our planet. They participate through field work, business integration, science and innovation, and much more. After reading each page of the website and learning as much as I could about the company, I'm happy with my decision to donate to them! I would love to hear where everyone donated!
