Fix your speech. Eliminate those filler words from your vocabulary and utilize those tactical pauses. Help your speech. Think clearly before your words come out and focus on what you're saying. Additionally, actively listen to whom you're speaking with. Focus on what they're saying. Then think, pause, breath, and respond appropriately and effectively. A lot of people I interact with these days, to include college students, professionals, military members, politicians, etc, use filler words on a daily basis, obviously including myself. So this week we will try and eliminate them from our speech patterns and create new habits. We will then sound more educated, more enticing, and more attractive. We will have a propose with our speech and people with navigate towards you. With clean speech, I guarantee your life will change. It is certainly one of those small steps which leads to great leaps forward. So… good luck with this challenge, I also guarantee you this will be extremely difficult to accomplish. You will fail, but you will learn. I promise.

This week went extremely well. I don't use too many filler words as it is, but I'll tell ya, they sure get noticed when you focus on them. There was a few moments when I couldn't even finish a sentence because that's all I thought about. And once you start thinking about it, you are just stumbling down a steep mountain. Towards the end of the week however, I rarely used any "ums" "likes" or "uhs" during my speech patterns and I started to focus on what I was saying. I started to speak slowly and more precise. I know it was only a week, but throughout this year we've already had some practice recognizing speech patterns. A week of not saying Fuck, or a week not cursing at all. After a while you can really pick up on bad habits if you do it enough and focus.
I liked hearing myself talk to. I actually recorded myself on the way to work one morning. I set up my video recording on my handy iPhone and just started talking about anything that came to mind. Upon listening to it afterwards (on the same car ride) I noticed that I did speak slowly. I did eliminate most filler words and I sounded confident in my speech. It was quite promising actually and made me feel good about my progression since Monday. One thing I have learned in my short life is addressing somebody with confidence, speaking clearly and assertively, yet slow while you command attention, goes along way in any form of communication. Really take this week to heart and keep it there for when you need it most!
