Drop your worst habit. I have this terrible habit of biting my nails. It's not attractive. It's not normal. It's really just ugly. But it keeps my nails short and I've gotten really good at it… Ok ok, I'm done. My habit sucks and I really need to focus on stopping. This is just the week.
Bad habits are everywhere in our daily lives. We do things unconsciously, consciously, on purpose and not. Whatever yours is, we all have them. The best way to beat them is to except them, find a simple solution to fix them, and execute on your new goal. I've said it before, but sometimes eliminating something really adds to your life. We've done it before with our fasting, your dieting, our cutting of filler words. These eliminations have all added something to our lives. So find your worst habits, attack it with all you have and get to work on "cutting the fat."
I can see how this one could be extremely difficult for some. That's alright. Remember, it's these moments in our lives that show us who we really are and what kind of person we choose to be.
SIDE NOTE: I hope you're all doing no shave November. Grow a beard for those who can't.
REFLECTION: I honestly didn't bit my nails a single time. I used nail clippers twice throughout the week and crushed the challenge. My goal now is to keep it up for the remainder of the year. I think I can do it. This challenge took some negative out of my life and hopefully, permanently. Only time will tell. How did your challenge go? What did you drop this week? Or more importantly, what did you add that became a positive habit? I thought long and hard on this and mine is hitting the snooze button. The snooze button is terrible and waking up when that initial alarm hits has so many benefits. And honestly, the hardest part about the morning is just getting out of bed. If you get out of bed, chug that water, do some push ups, and brush your teeth, the day has started folks and you're on your way. I 100% failed and think I hit snooze at least three times this week. But progress. Progress is what is important. I don't expect to change a multi-year habit in one day. I'm realistic folks. But progress is what is important. Because with progress, that three days in a week changes to two, then one. Then one day, fuck that snooze button. You don't need it.
I think all in all, this week was fantastic. I learned some things about myself. I eliminated something negative. I started a new journey towards something positive. I can't complain. More importantly, how was your week? What did you eliminate, what did you add? What did you do this week to make you better?
BONUS CHALLENGE: As we are attacking our worst bad habit this week, I challenge you again to use that fuel and create a positive new habit in your life. A one-for-one. Good habits are monumental in our lives for accomplishing more and making life easier. For example, if you create a great morning routine, like much of us have from Week 1, and you continue to establish that routine each and every morning until you do it 10,000 times. It will take no effort for you to start your day successfully. It will take no mental strain to wake up early, complete your few morning items and propel yourself into a great day. This habit you've created will help you into other successes. If you push and pursue positive habits in your life, the easier they will seem, the more you can focus on other goals throughout the day, and the more you end up accomplishing with your day. The mind can only handle so much mental fortitude each day. The more habits you create, the more fuel in the tank you'll have. So.. I challenge you to eliminate your worst as apart of our weekly challenge, and add your best in this week's bonus challenge! Good luck
