Practice a skill you've never tried before. When you open your mind to possibilities, you find different approaches to things, different views on what you like and different perspectives. A skill is a very broad term though. So let's define it a bit. I would break it down into a hard skill and a soft skill. Hard skills are technical. They are things such as welding or basketball. Soft skills are character skill sets such as leadership and patience. This week we will work on one skill. A skill we have either yet to accomplish successfully or haven't tried at all. Skills add to our toolbox. They are some things that may define us. That make us better. And we all know by now that we are challenging ourselves to be better. Better people. Better individuals. Better teammates. Better influencers. So choose your skill, attack it will full force and get after it.
REFLECTION: The skill I choose to attack this week was leadership. I can always become a better leader. So each day, for about an hour was to focus and practice leadership. I read Jocko Willink's and Leif Babin's book Extreme Ownership as well as I started his sequel, Dichotomy of Leadership. Both focus on leadership principles and helped me understand the fundamentals of what it takes to lead and be led. They explained to me the ability to take complete ownership of your life and help others around you. From there, I took those principles I read about and tried to incorporate those directly to my life; as I will continue to do so. Additionally, I tried to help others around me. I would make it a point to share my new learned information with others to help them as well. I am in no way perfect nor do I know everything or have taken in everything from these two books. But it is a daily practice in which I wish to refine. I hope you did well on your challenges this week. Please share your experiences and keep pushing!
