Vocab week. Since I had an extremely difficult time with my apparently limited vocabulary, this week will try and help us out. We are going to read every day for at least 13 mins. (Everyone is so obsessed with 5-10 squared off numbers, so I'm changing it up.) If you do this already, great. Read something else that you wouldn't normally read. A magazine, a news article, instruction manual, it doesn't matter but you have to do something different. I'm currently reading Tim Ferris' Tools of Titans (amazing) and read every night before I go to bed, but I'm going to throw in some news articles this week, maybe a journal on the ketogenic diet. Idk. But I'm going to just add it anywhere in my day. We don't care if its 13 mins all together, broken up, at 11:47 pm, just get it done. I'll probably read a few different articles, and ill just make sure I'm getting at least 13 mins of actual reading time, browsing doesn't count. My goals for this one are to find replacement words for the f bomb, maybe make it a habit, heck maybe even learn something… I think it will be pretty easy. Maybe the hard part will be finding material since I'm in Norway with limited WiFI. Other than that, it shouldn't be a heartache to get this one done.
Also remember, that I'm combining this week and last weeks challenge of not using the f bomb. So that will certainly make it a little harder too. Plus, next week is going to be a hard one, so consider this to be a little 'week off' if you will.
REFLECTION: This week was great for me. I totally crushed my goal of reading at least 13 minutes of something new. I did a lot of research on investing and the current crypto down trend. I dove into real estate and how to buy in an emerging market. I also read up on some recovery methods for the body. All in all, it was a successful week and usually my 13 mins turned into over an hour; even in Tools of Titans. Additionally, the use of the f word has significantly decreased. I did go out and party yesterday and the f word slipped more last night than all week. I honestly want to say it came out a total of 10 times throughout the week, I think we can call that a success.
Also, my buddy and I were discussing possibilities of what this weeks challenge would be before I ended on the reading. Well he came back a few hours later and was stoked on a new challenge. So I technically had three challenges going this week. He thought it would be a good idea to do 50 handstand pushups everyday. We completed it. We threw them in the workouts, we did them in hallways and the kitchen. We did them after workouts and were just completely smoked. It was a rough one for sure. The most I did in a row throughout the week I believe was on Tuesday for a total of 15. Usually I started with sets of 10, but by the end your shoulders just can't keep up and you end up doing one by one. It was a good week of challenges though. Obviously, I didn't mention it to you before, so we'll call this the bonus challenge of the week. If you want to throw it in next week you're more than welcome.
I liked this week a lot because there were so many things going on and all challenges were completed. You got that sense of gratification on Saturday. The kind where you look at yourself in the bathroom mirror and just kinda go "ya" with a smirk on your face. One thing I did notice too, is because you had to read only for 13 mins, you weren't necessarily finished with what you started reading, so I would just continue to read. And that continuance lead to more reading. It was a snowball effect week for me and ultimately I just was able to accomplish more. I hope you felt the same.
